History & Culture

Where time takes shape

You step inside and time slows down. At the MAP of Perfugas, you walk through a story that spans millions of years, following a path that moves from the Paleolithic to the Middle Ages. In front of you are the plant fossils of the petrified forest, tree trunks turned to stone eighteen million years ago. A little further on, tools from the Lower Paleolithic appear, flakes and artifacts that speak of ancient gestures, repeated between 450,000 and 120,000 years ago. You stop in front of the Mother Goddess with Child, small, powerful, Neolithic. Then comes bronze, the Nuragic dagger, matter shaped into meaning. The visit ends with a recent discovery, the zoomorphic sculpture from the sacred well of Predio Canopoli. You look at it. And you realize you are not just a spectator.
